Economists To Trump: Don't Impose Section 232 Steel Tariffs

7/12/2017 - A group of economists who all served as U.S. presidential advisers are warning that new restrictions on imported steel could harm relationships with allies and damage the economy.
According to The Washington Post, the economists, all former chairmen and chairwomen of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, warned in a letter to President Donald Trump that imposing tariffs under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 would likely do more harm than good.

“We urge you to avoid a policy that would likely incur greater economic and diplomatic costs than any conceivable national security gain,” they wrote.
